African Programs

The Waterloo chapter of EWB sends two short-term volunteers to Africa each year.

The short-term volunteers known as Junior Fellows (JFs) are typically undergraduate students and spend four months overseas. This position is as much about gaining leadership skills and exposure to development as it is about creating a lasting impact on African communities.

Supporting JFs are African Programs Staff (APS). Under a 1-3 year contract, APS do extended hypothesis testing within African Program Teams. A few of the active teams include: Agricultural Extensions, Governance and Rural Infrastructure, Water and Sanitation, Business Development Services, and Agricultural Value Chains.
